Specialist Physiotherapy for Adults with Pelvic Health Problems
Qualifications & Experience
1997
Qualified as Physiotherapist
University of Otago, New Zealand
I qualified from a four year degree and began working in a private
sports clinic. I assessed and managed acute sporting injuries on the
pitch side, and provided rehab for players in the clinic, as well as
for the general public. I began part time work in pelvic health too
and loved it! I was fortunate to have one on one mentoring to develop
my skills in pelvic floor assessment and rehabilitation in a dedicated
Women's Hospital.
Since 1999
Physiotherapy Work in the UK
I worked as a locum physiotherapist around the UK, alternating between
musculoskeletal outpatients and pelvic health, whilst undertaking a
post-graduate diploma in Women's Health at the University of Bradford.
This enabled me to become a full member of POGP. I settled in pelvic
health after this, but have retained my musculoskeletal training.
Since 2003
National Committees and Teaching
I have chaired and worked on the committees of POGP, before working
with a team to develop the postgraduate obstetric musculoskeletal
workshop which I continue to deliver around the UK. I also regularly
teach on the male pelvic floor study day, for qualified
physiotherapists.
Since 2005
Clinical Physiotherapy Specialist
Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
I have held this title for a number of years, and have extended my
skills to be able to treat adults with a wide range of pelvic health
contitions. This was aided through completion of my MSc in
Physiotherapy with distinction. My work includes post-prostatectomy
incontinence, pelvic pain, post-childbirth perineal trauma and more,
working closely with the multidisciplinary teams. I regularly teach
within the hospital as well as taking on managerial and other
additional responsibilities.

I am a Chartered Physiotherapist who has been in practice for the last 21 years. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and am registered with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC).
I have a musculoskeletal background and have practised in both NHS and private healthcare settings.
I have a particular passion for Women’s Health Physiotherapy and have carried out extensive postgraduate training to become specialised in this area over the last 15 years. This is such an important area of healthcare which is often seen as taboo and women can be too embarrassed to seek help for the problems they experience. It is so important for women to be able to talk about these subjects openly and receive the help and support they need to return to full health and function.
As can be seen from my testimonies, there is nothing more satisfying than being able to help and support someone on their journey through pregnancy; the postnatal period; pelvic pain; prolapse or continence problems.
